Many of us struggle with getting out of bed in the mornings to face work, school, practice, or an assortment of tasks.
To motivate yourself and get it done, Will Heikkinen recommends these tips:
- A Little Planning Goes a Long Way – To conquer the mornings, start from the night before. Be sure to plan your day so that you make time for a restful night’s sleep. This means completing assignments during the daytime and turning off all distractions at the end of the day. When you go to bed on time, it’s generally less of a struggle to wake up in the morning, according to Will Heikkinen Brown.
- Make Your Room Cozy and Comfortable – In addition to making time for sleep, consider nurturing an environment that is conducive to sleep. Clear the clutter, remove electronics, adjust the temperature, and invest in a good mattress, just to name a few examples.
- Limit Your Caffeine Intake – If you regularly feel less tired at night and the complete opposite in the mornings, try limiting your caffeine intake, then evaluate if it makes a difference, says Will Heikkinen Massachusetts.
- Use Tools of the Trade – Don’t rely on your biological clock to wake up earlier. Instead, set an alarm to ensure you get up on time. There are also several alarm apps on the market you may want to try, which offer creative strategies to get you out of bed.
- Stick to the Plan – According to Will Heikkinen Rhode Island, one of the greatest challenges when pursuing a goal is following through after day one. To overcome this time around, take a 7-day early morning wake-up challenge. Increase the challenge level week after week. Over time, waking up early in the mornings will be second nature to you – and chances are, you’ll achieve more.
